WHAT IS IN STORE IN 2008

"PM: Moderates must lead fight against fanatics or extremism will prevail."

Excuse me sir, but there are a few characters in your department that you have allowed to push their extremist views. So how about leading by example and take some action against them first. Have courage to do what is right.

JOHOR HIT BY FLOODS

MP SUGGESTS CRUCIFIXES IN MISSION SCHOOLS BE REMOVED

Nazri says "Robin Hood still needs to face the music". What about MP for Parit Sulong, Syed Hood who made the suggestion ? Sorry, wrong Hood ah!!

Teachers, when marking papers, try not to put crosses. Kids are sensitive to seeing too many crosses on their exam papers especially if their parents monitor their results "religiously".

MAN IN THE MIRROR

What we have here is a system where the best and the brightest will be raised up to lead us...in our dreams.

PRICELESS SOYUZ SPACE CAPSULE AND REENGINEERING

Well, I wouldn't understand their explanation since I am no engineer.

21 BATHROOMS revisited

Update Wednesday 21 Nov 2007 - woke up this morning and found out that the guy with the 21 bathrooms is at it again; this time trying to alienate the adjoining piece of land. Maybe the present pool is too small to accomodate all the orphans. Is he trying to "clean" out Port Klang or what?

AL JAZEERA 101 EAST- BERSIH RALLY FORUM

Its time to "brace ourselves for a whole lot of ugly from a parade of stupid" (from Hairspray - the musical). How true. First we have our info minister with his mispronounced "elections" and now these two "towering intellectuals" showing their prowess on Al-Jazeera. What next?

As for Mr. Malik Imtiaz Sarwar, I would like to shake your hand, sir.

WAYAR DAH PUTUS IN PARLIAMENT

When are we ever going to see an intelligent debate of the issues in Parliament? All we got for our money so far was a demonstration of how not to solve a problem , ie shout down the debate, skirt around the issue and if all else fails, threaten violence. Each one of us is blessed with a brain. Do not leave home without it.

THERE GOES OUR RANKINGS

Yup, our FIFA rankings are down, our University rankings are down and mark my words our DUREX rankings will be way way down if what our Info Minister say is true, " we have erections once every 5 years". Now we know who is the culprit bringing down our national average. On the other hand, minister sir, maybe you should learn not to roll your L's when pronouncing "elections" because it can cause widespread panic. I mean it will be like waiting for the return of Haley's comet.

WHY SCREWDRIVERS ARE SO EXPENSIVE

Is it possible that they did not purchase screwdrivers but were paying for two services combined? Since the costs have to be recovered, the parties may have agreed to backcharge to the client as screws plus driver or screwdrivers in short. What is the financial justification to disburse up to 75% of a contract sum for six ships and not receive even one fully commissioned unit ? It would be interesting how much they charge for the "screwdrivers" in there...

Public Service

What is the difference between Customer Service in the private sector and the public sector?
In the private sector, we pride ourselves in customer satisfaction, full refunds not questions asked and if another similar complaint is received it would be cause for an investigation to identify and rectify the problem. In the public sector, if 2,000 concerned citizens complained about an issue it is considered a small minority and ignored. If 40,000 concerned citizens complained about an issue they are considered a public nuisance and no attempt is made to focus on the issues raised. All is however not lost. Kudos to our top civil servant for his swift and decisive action following his visit to MPAJ. We do hope Tan Sri that your actions will set the standard that will be adopted by your political masters. Wag the dog so to speak. You and your team have our respect, support and best wishes.

RUSSIANS TO SELL US SOYUZ SPACECRAFT

"Russia has offered to sell the spacecraft which took our angkasawan to space. It could be displayed at a site to be set up to mark Malaysia's success in sending a Malaysian to space". Well, 30 years ago I left my hometown to come to KL to start my career. I came in an old creaky bus. I didn't drive the bus, I was just a passenger. Maybe I should buy that old bus and park it in my yard to inspire my kids....or to breed mosquitos.

What about the other "spacemen" who have fearlessly gone out into cyberspace and put Malaysia on the world map?

Sensitive issues a no-no at general assembly

Update 7 Nov 2007: Thanks for toning down on the theatrics this year. We hope it is a sincere attempt at building trust. The difficulty is to be consistent in your conduct year after year. All the best.

KEEP IT UP ACA

"We do not discriminate. Small fry or big fish, we will go after them if they are corrupt." Well said. Its good to hear that commitment. It is even better to see results. Do us proud. Don't end up like the above picture. ( Note : ACA = Anti Corruption Agency )

OUR OVERLOOKED HERO ?

While the ferry was on fire, Krishnamoorthy had the presence of mind to hand out life vests and help the children off into the water. Witnesses then saw him dived in repeatedly to pull passengers to safety. It was estimated that he must have saved at least a dozen lives that day. If that is not heroism of the highest order I do not know what is ! Sadly instead of celebrating his act of bravery in the front pages, this news was found inside page 10 of one paper and 14 of another. Well we know who is going to be on the front pages of tomorrow's paper; such is the predictability of our country's adoration of manufactured heroes, whilst overlooking the common hero in our midst. But never mind, Krish, in my books you are a hero.

SPECIAL INDEPENDANT PANEL

Terms of reference : No power to compel witnesses to come forward, no power to commit anybody for contempt, no power to administer oaths, not supposed to call witnesses. Appoint an independant panel but give them no tools to do their job and no direct access to the evidence. Why bother ?

SHOCK AFTER SHOCK

Firstly a well deserved hats off to the Auditor General for his candid report. Lets hope that the civil service has the conviction and courage to do some soul searching and find out how they have fallen so far. Only then can they change for the better. I am sure they have good people in there - now is the time to make their presence felt.

6 high powered (HP6) patrol vessels being built locally

Hopefully we do not try to build our own submarines. Tourism Malaysia may start promoting our sunken wrecks as tourist diving destinations.

Paperwork is important

If I am conducting a performance appraisal and my staff has 35 unwritten reports which are life changing would I promote him?. No, I would be very alarmed. Let me just say this, STUPID, STUPID, STUPID, STUPID. Yes, you know who you are. Shame on you.

Is VW on or off?

It was reported that we have missed two self imposed deadlines in the negotiations and the quarterly losses are continuing to drain the company. Where is the urgency or is there any awareness of the cost of delay of resolving this crisis ? Here is praying for a miracle.
